Forward Brewing

Forward Brewing is a nano-brewery and taproom in the Eastport neighborhood of Annapolis. Its building has long been in the owners’ family. They updated it in 2019 while keeping the original footprint and front facade, and the brewhouse sits in the back. The aim is a fresh, local product that Eastport and Annapolis can claim as their own, and the small system lets the brewers rotate a range of styles. Co-owners Cam Bowdren, an Eastport native, teacher and sailor, and Claire Fitch Bowdren, who studied public health and sustainable food systems, were inspired by the way communities they visited gathered around local craft beer. The sunlit taproom has community tables, a front porch and seasonal outdoor dining in the driveway. A kitchen serves a full menu, with carry-out available, and the taproom can be booked for events.
