Silver Branch Brewing Company

Silver Branch Brewing Company makes its beer in downtown Silver Spring, where its production brewery and taproom sit beside the Red Line Metro station. It was founded in March 2019 by Christian Layke and Brett A. Robison, longtime beer lovers who build their lineup around what they consider the four great brewing cultures: Belgium, Britain and Ireland, Central Europe and the Americas. Their stated goal is multi-layered beers that stay as enjoyable on the last sip as on the first. The founders opened the brewery to create a place for catching up with friends, and they describe the feeling they are after with the German word gemütlichkeit, a sense of coziness and belonging. The taproom aims to recall old American biergartens, British pubs and Prague sidewalk cafés, and it serves wine and soda alongside the beer. Robison has worked in Montgomery County’s craft beer scene since 2013.
