Checkerspot Brewing Company

Checkerspot Brewing Company is an independent Baltimore brewery that has made small-batch, gluten-reduced beer since 2018, so guests who avoid gluten have more to choose from. It is owned by Judy and Rob Neff. Judy is the head brewer, a longtime homebrewer and Certified Cicerone with a PhD in microbiology from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, and she helped found the Baltimore Beer Babes group. Rob, a Mt. Airy native with a background in civil engineering and rowhouse rehabbing, handles sales and distribution. The tap list rotates constantly and has included lighter beers such as a honey Kölsch along with session IPAs and other hop-forward beers. The industrial taproom has a kitchen, an arcade and a stage, sits a short walk from Camden Yards, and hosts private events.
