Ministry of Brewing

Ministry of Brewing is a Baltimore brewery and taproom in the former St. Michael’s Church, between the Washington Hill and Upper Fells Point neighborhoods. The four founders set out to restore the building as a community gathering place, out of respect for the many local families who once attended services, christenings and weddings there. Co-founder Ernst Valery is a Baltimore resident and developer. The taproom sits under the church’s 53-foot barrel ceilings and has 32 rotating taps, with new seasonals and one-off beers alongside the regular list. Local food trucks visit on a rotating schedule. The founders say giving back is central to the business, and their first charitable focus is Baltimore’s public elementary schools. The space hosts public and private events, including meetings, weddings, holiday parties and fundraisers.
