Franklins Restaurant, Brewery and General Store

Franklins is an independent, family-owned brewpub and general store in Hyattsville. In 1992, Mike and Debra Franklin bought the former Hyattsville Hardware Co. building on what was then a struggling stretch of the road and opened Franklins General Store and Deli. The deli became a popular lunch stop and outgrew its space, so in 2002 the couple replaced it with a 200-seat brewpub and doubled the size of the general store. Over the years the business has added redesigned outdoor spaces and an ice cream shop. The brewery’s beers have competed at events including the Great British Beer Festival, and they are sold to go alongside carry-out orders from the restaurant’s full menu. Franklins puts an emphasis on supporting its community, and it hosts fundraisers for local groups. Dining, drinking and shopping all happen under one historic roof.
